About the Project
A research-driven biofeedback game designed to support post-surgery heart therapy for children. The system uses real-time physiological data and sensors to dynamically shape gameplay, transforming therapy into a motivating and personalized experience.
Problem
Children recovering from heart surgery often struggle with motivation during rehabilitation. Traditional therapy lacks engagement and emotional support.
Solution
A Unity3D-based game system enhanced by biofeedback from medical sensors (e.g., velo-ergometers), adapting gameplay in real time to match the child’s physical input and condition.
My Role
- Interaction Designer – Conducted research, concept development, and prototyping
- Developer – Integrated a custom medtech system with Unity3D, handled 3D modeling and asset creation
- Product Manager – Led user research (surveys, staff interviews), conducted usability tests with healthy and patient children, provided demos to medical leadership, and maintained delivery timelines.
Results
Successfully deployed as part of a broader medical R&D initiative; contributed to the academic field of biofeedback systems in pediatric rehabilitation.
